A variation on the Guide’s Choice Hare’s Ear, one of my oldest best sellers. This fly takes the bugginess of a soft hackle hares ear and adds a healthy dose of flash making for a great searching/ attractor pattern when probing new water or when trying to locate a bite before dialing things in.
I am always amazed at how durable Eriks flies are. The occasional yet inevitable smash against the rock behind you backcast never so much as makes a scratch on these flies. Never have to trim lose hairs or threads, just always really solid. Plus, fish seem to love them too.
